Now we’re stuck in Denver to refuel. Flight attendant tells me they can’t charge dude’s credit card a premium seat fee while we’re in the air and it becomes a safety issue when a person in exit row won’t comply.

If he had gone to biz class seat instead, they could have dealt with it after flight.

I suspect the problem is that when you won't comply with FAs' instructions, that makes you a security threat, and that's why they diverted.

Ah, but then the local rule is contradicted by a standing order that is issued routinely at the start of a case and you just need to call it to mind whenever you file a document.

I'm starting to think a good law school exam would be "produce a single draft that accurately reflects the comments you've received" and the question is a single word document with tracked changes from 8 different people at unspecified times interspersed with comment bubbles.

I mean, the answer is pretty much yes, because we have a National Guard that is professional and focused on duty. So I get the joke, but the fact our military is not a bunch of mercenaries is why respect the Guard.

I'm celebrating 41 today and have the health to work on, but, truly.

The greatest gift in my life is the time and resources to spend with the people who matter the most to me, including (and perhaps especially) dear friends who give me joy and who are not geographically proximate.

If you want to say the judiciary isn't competent to assess the legality of the National Guard being federalized, fine, but that isn't an issue of "a single district judge."
