Here is a factsheet on what is currently known about Birchgletscher, the Swiss glacier that catastrophically collapsed on 28 May 2025, following heavy debris loading from Kleines Nesthorn.
Our thoughts are with all those most deeply affected.

Der Wetterstation in Hintergräppelen steht das Wasser bis zum Hals: über 130 mm Niederschlag/72 h haben die Senke gefüllt und sind der Sensoreinheit von @decentlab.bsky.social bedrohlich nahe gekommen. Auf das Bad haben dann sowohl das Gerät als auch ich schlussendlich verzichtet.
