Socialist, Trade Unionist, Playwright , Europhile and lifelong Aston Villa fan. That'll do for now.
In Manchester on Thursday three people were killed at the synogogue. Two of them were killed by the police, who also injured another man. This is described as a terrorist outrage, though no evidence has as yet been made public. The Chief Rabbi says all pro- Palestine marches must now be banned. Mmm.

Whilst I deplore the violent attack outside a Manchester synagogue and hope all the victims recover the PM's response raises several questions. If this had happened outside a mosque would the PM fly back from abroad and hold a Cobra meeting? Has Israel paused its killing because it's Yom Kippur?

Labour's response to the Corbyn/Sultana new party saying that the country has twice rejected Corbyn is disingeuous. Corbyn's Labour got the biggest vote for Labour since 1997 and in 2019 still got many more votes than Starmer in 2024.

How on earth does a paint job on two RAF planes cost £7 million? Someone's having a laugh!

Outrageous treatment of Diane Abbott. She is saying what is so obviously true. At a community event on racism a Jewish colleague said that he only got abuse if he wore his kippah and identified himself as Jewish. If you are black you are permanently identified.

It is very clear that Israel is a rogue state, a threat to the Middle East. It attacks who it wants when it wants. The Syrian capital today and who knows what tonight or tomorrow, secure in the knowledge that UK and other western states will go on supporting while uttering words of condemnation.

Criticism of BBC over the non- screening of the Gaza documentary voiced by the son of a Hamas government minister seems bizarre. Whether Nandy likes it or not Hamas IS the government of Gaza even if the West says it is a terrorist organisation. Israel is a terrorist government in my view

I fail to see how spraying paint on RAF planes on the ground constitutes terrorism.

So for the West it's not OK for Russia to attack Ukraine but it's fine for Israel to attack Iran, after engaging in genocide in Gaza. Usual double standards and perfidious Albion

Eluned Morgan is right.Labour will only counter Reform by tacking. to the left, not tacking right. As for the landslide it is built on sand and hundreds of very small majorities can be washed away.

Labour is badly mistaken if it thinks that copying Reform is the route to electoral success. They should be presenting a principled alternative.

Yet again the Board of Deputies talks about the Jewish community. There is no homogenous Jewish community, just as there is no homogenous Christian community.

In 2024Angus Hanton asked ,'how robustly could British policy makers respond to a second Trump presidency that turned its back on the rule of law, worked much harder to erect trade barriers, shrank NATO and promoted ever closer relations with..Vladimir Putin at the expense of Ukraine?'

Labour's slogan for local elections is 'Change'. To what? Even more poverty, inequality and despair.

Almost all Labour members want the government to introduce a new wealth tax. We agree.

A wealth tax is both urgent and necessary.

The video of Trump’s deportees arriving in El Salvador is horrific.

This is 21st century Nazism.

Identities concealed, trafficked to a foreign labour camp. No due process, no evidence of crime. Dehumanised.

Where is the global outrage?

The crime is historic; the normalisation catastrophic.
