Birds with insects are some of my favorite targets. I like 'em with fish and crawfish, too! This yellow crowned night heron was doing some hunting in the Murfree Springs wetlands in Murfreesboro, TN.

Birds and bugs is today’s theme, with alt of everyday birds. I’ve got a brand new mandarin duckling who already knows how to hunt dragonflies, a blackbird with a notbug but earthworm (still an invert!) and a robin with a riverfly - last two double up as everyday birds

She is a small bird with brown wings and top of head, a grey abdomen and a bright orange chest and face. Like the other two, she’s quite chuffed. She’s got a juicy snack in her beak - a riverfly of some sort.

Three bluejays sit on a feeder pole all looking in different directions. Two European Starlings and a Bluejay flapping in a lot of motion with only fragments in focus. A Male Cardinal, A female cardinal, and a Eastern Bluebird on a flat tray feeder. The male is in the air wings spread. The female Cardinal is sitting pretty on the tray. The bluebird has wings up looking to about to take off. Two hairy woodpeckers on a suet feeder with a Eastern Starling in the feed tray above with a meal worm in it's beak.

My #BirdOfTheDay, for #Birds&Bugs is an eastern wood pewee swallowing a dragonfly. My #EverydayBirds entry is a song sparrow from a recent walk.

Pretty sure the damselfly is some sort of bluet species, there is also a biggish fly on the swan's head. Swan was enjoying showing the cygnets how to enjoy duckweed, pretty sure they call it swanweed.
A large male mute swan has his beak resting atop duckweed in a marsh while a large fly rests on his forehead and a damselfly has hitched a ride on his wing.
