Here is my Post for #BirdOfTheDay
Two Tufted duck one of my favourite Birds to see and Capture.
Captured on a Canon EOS R50
This image captures a serene moment with two Tufted Ducks (males) gliding across a calm body of water. The composition is clean, focusing on the striking contrast of the birds against the reflective surface. Key Visual Elements • The Subjects: Two male Tufted Ducks are the focal point. You can identify them by their jet-black heads, necks, and backs, which contrast sharply with their bright white flanks. • Distinctive Features: * The "Tuft": The duck in the foreground clearly shows the thin, drooping black crest at the back of its head. • The Eyes: They have piercing, vivid yellow eyes that stand out against their dark plumage. • The Bills: Their bills are a pale bluish-grey with a distinct black tip (the "nail"). • The Setting: They are swimming on still water that acts like a mirror. Photo taken at Forest Farm NR ~ Cardiff ~ South Wales The male kingfisher is a small, compact bird, roughly the size of a sparrow, but appears larger due to its disproportionately big head and long, dagger-like bill. It is characterized by extremely bright, iridescent colours, featuring a vivid turquoise-blue back and head that often appears to flash in the sun. The back and head are a brilliant, metallic turquoise or electric blue. This contrasts sharply with a bright, warm orange or rufous-copper colour on its chest and cheeks. It has a white patch on the side of its neck and throat. The Beak (Key Identification): A male kingfisher has an entirely black, dagger-shaped beak. Unlike the female, which has a reddish-orange patch on the bottom of her bill (looking like lipstick), the male's beak is solid black from base to tip. It has a very short tail and small, red legs. They are typically seen sitting very still on low-hanging branches over water before suddenly diving with a "plop". Similar in size to a robin or sparrow (about 16 cm long). They are often heard before they are seen, producing a high-pitched, silvery, whistle-like call.

A pale coloured bird with a rich brown head and dark beak is swimming to the left. It has a bright white neck and back of the body. Most of its plumage is covered in what looks like a very fine light brown tracery, though towards its long thin black tail the feathers are a mixture of larger patches of browns.
