In 1882 antiquary Edward Cunnington dug at the #Roman temple at Maiden Castle hillfort in #Dorset

Sadly his excavations were never published although one important find was this copper alloy plaque with repoussée figure, possibly Minerva

Now in @dorsetmuseum.bsky.social

Happy #findsfriday! Been looking for chocolate cups in collections but stumbled upon this cute post-medieval toy/miniature plate. Accumulated quite a collection of toy photos over the years… maybe it is time to put together something soon considering…

Dartmoor is rich in Bronze Age ceramics as so few people have lived there since.
These (2250-1100 BC) are in Plymouth's terrific Box museum:
Raddick Hill 'Trevisker' (from Cornwall) vessel
Chagford beaker
Dewerstone 'Trevisker' vessel
Hurston Ridge Collared Urn
Four vessels are shown.
On the left, a pinkish one with near vertical sides has an upper section with incised decoration.
The next two are smaller pinkish vessels, a beaker with a bulbous body and splayed neck with scratched decoration, and one about half its size which has a ring of punched circles and tiny handles near the neck.
On the right is a slightly darker, very large urn with a small base that extends to a body that's broader near the top, before turning in with a broad banded neck, decorated with incised lines in geometric patterns.
