But they made this way more stressful than they needed to by not sending out agency guidance until Sunday, then the guidance they did send was so convoluted and confusing nobody knew what it meant. So we had to have 3 meetings just to figure out what the guidance meant. Like. Why? Oh right. Trauma 😒

Basically if it isn’t urgent I wouldn’t try to get your SSA business done those days. I know my FO will be empty except for my poor manager who has to be here regardless. But the days were legit voluntary and if we didn’t volunteer we get those days off.

Ok so it took till 4:15pm and 3 unscheduled mgmt meetings but we finally got clarification on if we are working the 24th and 26th. TLDR: a manager is required to be onsite from 9-1 both days. If anybody volunteers to work they get holiday pay. If nobody volunteers the manager will be here alone. 😒

Big surprise. SSA OIG says agency phone answering stats are completely legit. Of course, anyone at OIG even thinking of being critical would have been fired immediately.

“Scrapping the cap” is a popular, effective way to fix Social Security’s funding gap. 🙅🧢 FTW

Nearly 3/4 of Social Security’s projected long-term shortfall would be eliminated if the cap were eliminated without increasing benefits.

Will the mega-moneyed go for it? The answer’s not what you think
Should high earners support scrapping Social Security’s cap on taxable earnings?
Earnings above a cap aren’t subject to the payroll taxes that fund Social Security. As a result, billionaires pay the same tax as someone earning $176,100 in 2025 (the cap is indexed to the average wa...

In May, the Trump Admin secretly--and probably illegally--began using SSA data to verify voters' citizenship.

One big problem: Social Security data don’t have complete or up-to-date citizenship info, so this could disenfranchise U.S. citizens ahead of the midterms.

This article is 1000% correct. We can’t actually achieve any of these goals without more staff. Friendly reminder that the last time we had this few staff it was 1967. We served 480 claimants per staff then. Now we have to serve 1800 per staff. This is not sustainable or even achievable. Period.

The Social Security Admin hopes to cut the number of people visiting its offices by half--15 million people--during this fiscal year, which began two months ago.

That's because they undermined in-person service by rapidly pushing out thousands of staff, creating huge pressure on local offices.
