When I was a kid, if a guy wiped his ass and dressed well, we called him metrosexual, implying that he's gay.

Now we call him performative, implying that he's a manipulator.

We've come a long way since 2005.

"Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky; those people aren't on TV because they have intellects and they're dissenters. The limits of the debate in this country are set before the debate begins."

"You don’t need a formal conspiracy when interests converge. These people went to the same universities and fraternities, they’re on the same boards of directors, they’re on the same country clubs, they have like-interests. They don’t need to call a meeting; they know what is good for THEM."

My skepticism book club meets this Sunday to discuss 'The Bible Unearthed' by Israel Finkelstein and Neil Asher Silberman.

Can anyone recommend podcasts or YouTube channels that compare The Bible to archaeological and historical record?

"'Prefer not to,' echoed I, rising in high excitement, and crossing the room with a stride. 'What do you mean? Are you moon-struck? I want you to help me compare this sheet here-take it,' and I thrust it towards him.

'I would prefer not to,' said he."

I'm thinking about running a conspiracy discussion group based on Robert Anton Wilson's "Everything Is Under Control: Conspiracies, Cults and Cover-Ups".

Let me know if that interests you.

Later, a few of us were puzzling over this mystery symbol in Twin Peaks: The Return.

On my first viewing, I happily took it to be an open-ended mystery without a definitive answer.

My doctor commented on the Kandinsky book I was reading in her office today, so I know she's one of the good ones.

Not all of these depictions make perfect representation but they're all tender and human.

David Lynch's artistry made him memorable. His compassion made him a treasure.

All of this is, in part, why I view Dougie Coop in The Return as Mark Frost and David Lynch's wishful fantasy that they, too, will be blessed with good fortune and care when they're faced with limited verbal functioning and need help to the bathroom.

I watched E7 & E8 of Twin Peaks: The Return last night. Every time I watched E7, I get a little teared up thinking of the scene that Mark Frost co-wrote for his father, Warren Frost, who plays Doctor Hayward.

Warren Frost had Alzheimer's at the time. The episode ends with a dedication to him.
