Donald Trump will undergo a routine physical exam on Friday, the White House announced, following questions about the president’s health after he developed noticeable bruising and swelling in recent months
None of what Trump said here is true. He didn't "take freedom of speech away" (what a fucking dork way of saying it too, like he's taking away a toy we played with wrong) because he doesn't have the power to do that.
He's trying to cow people. Fighting back here is simple. Don't be cowed.
Trump: "We took the freedom of speech away because that's been through the courts and the courts said you have freedom of speech, but what has happened is when they burn a flag it agitates and irritates crowds."
I keep saying that it really feels like the wheels are coming off of Trump and his administration. We need to keep pushing. Follow the lead of the Portland Protestors: meet intimidation with mockery and humor. Press your elected officials. Do not be intimidated.
This might not be the, um, best time to resurrect this initiative, but am ready to greenlight this once I get the pigs, or similar animal that can scarf jiggly. Swimming pool could be a large enough private one. Have leads on public ones.
Okay, so, Portland...I need an abandoned indoor pool and someone to make really large multicolored jellos from molds that look like creatures if you smashed them on the floor of the abandoned swimming pool... and then someone with some trained pet pigs to devour the remains while being photographed.
With respect, if you're not demanding Trump 1) gets his gestapo out of our cities and 2) that there are mechanisms to ensure he doesn't use money as his own slush funds, you're missing the reason so many are supporting the shut down.
I'm a kind of market researcher. As a market researcher (of a kind), I talk to a lot of real market researchers who tell me what's going on.
Literally none of them have ever said "fascism is coming. people are fucking scared." You want to call LinkedIn a bubble? MARKET RESEARCH is the bubble.
Sure. Weaponized gratitude. I get it. For me the implicit racism is the worst part. He’s acting like she’s a guest, not a citizen with the fundamental right and civic duty to speak about the state of the country.
Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.
Shelters that house unaccompanied minors are bracing for "Freaky Friday," the start of an ICE operation that will first issue letters to children, seeking to pressure them to return to the countries they've fled in exchange for a cash payment. If they decline, their parents will be targeted by ICE.
Cynicism isn't the thought mode of smart people. It is the entry point for fascism. Once we U turn out of this shit, we need to rethink our cynical impulses. cynicism hasn't won a war or beaten a fascist or healed communities or expanded freedom. only earnest solidarity has done that.
This video of an ENTIRE LECTURE HALL of students chasing this hateful piece of garbage out made my morning — highly rec. it’s a great reminder that majority of people find this stuff disgusting.
Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.
