I hope AUS PM Anthony Albanese and NSW Premier Chris Minns realise that MANY Australians DO NOT want "social cohesion" with neo-nazis and Zionist bigots. That sort of "social cohesion" sounds a lot like condoning anti-Palestinian racism and complicity in genocide. #auspol #nswpol #FreePalestine

It’s so American how the Sackler family caused a national opioid crisis which ultimately led to the fentanyl crisis, and instead of imprisoning them the US eventually went “Hang on, we can use this as an excuse to start a war with a country that doesn’t even produce fentanyl.”

In the aftermath of the Bondi shooting, grief was quickly overtaken by political opportunism, as leaders and lobbyists moved to exploit tragedy and target dissent, writes Stefan Moore.

The Bondi Beach massacre: exploiting tragedy
The tragic massacre at a Hanukkah celebration in Bondi was followed by a rush to assign blame, inflame fear and curtail dissent.

Governments are deleting data, slowing FOI access, and reshaping statistics. As evidence disappears, accountability collapses – and democracy weakens. #Transparency #Democracy #FOI #PressFreedom #DataIntegrity #auspol
Governments are hiding data and threatening democracy
From being custodians of public knowledge, governments are turning to architects of manufactured ignorance. Amid disappearing evidence, citizens are struggling to hold power to account.

As Australia heads into Christmas, people in Gaza face another winter of displacement and bombardment — and the federal government remains silent. Recognition of Palestine means little without action grounded in international law. #AusPol #Gaza #Palestine #HumanRights #InternationalLaw #MiddleEast
Australia’s Christmas double standards on Palestine
As Palestinians face another winter of displacement and bombardment, Australia celebrates Christmas while ignoring its own obligations under international law. If recognition of Palestine is to mean anything, the government must act – not look away.

This new report on digital inclusion shows 1 in 5 Australians are digitally excluded, it's 40% for First Nations people, 45% for public housing residents, 67% for older Australians. As services move online, digital exclusion = exclusion from healthcare, education & opportunity.

This complaint has been ongoing for more than 3 years now, I have raised it in Senate Estimates multiple times and it seems the privacy risk STILL exists.

Leo Puglisi from @6newsau.bsky.social gave evidence to the parliamentary inquiry on the social media age ban - I asked him about the real impacts on young people. This isn't about protection, it's about control. You can't lock kids out of news and social connection and call it safety.

As the Privacy Commissioner says - yes this social media age ban is likely to create a honeypot of data and the safest data is the data you don't collect. It's as simple as that.

Survivors and victims of childhood sexual abuse deserve far better than this. No one who abused children, or who knowingly failed to protect children in their care, should still be honoured by our country, whether they are dead or alive. Justice demands this.

During the last ceasefire, the Royal Air Force continued to send spy planes over Gaza to collect intelligence for Israel.

The evidence suggests Britain exploited the ceasefire to spy on Hamas and help Israel prepare for a return to war👇
