[Politics, Nobel Peace Prize, the funniest thing they could do.]

Given what's in the news, they should pre-emptively give Michelle Obama the Nobel Peace Prize.

@frameworkcomputer Your recent statements on being a "big tent" are not fooling anyone: you have sent some of MY money, which I TRUSTED with you as a customer, to a self-described Nazi. Yes, you are funding software development, but you are also funding some of the worst sort of hate out there […]

the biggest problem we *already have* in open source right now, which we have oversimplified into the term "supply chain security", is the lack of understanding that putting a dependency in your project's dependency set (package.json, pyproject.toml, requirements.txt, cargo.toml, etc) is not […]

“When streets became calmer & safer, more people felt comfortable trying a bike commute for the first time. Families began pedaling to the park…Local businesses saw new life…And cycling stopped feeling like a niche activity—it became part of everyday Parisian life.”

Oh lovely. Just discovered that some of the bus companies in #london are now issuing hand held devices to bus drivers.
I didn't discover that by reading the presser below but by finding me next to 12 tons of metal operated by a distracted driver, fully empowered by the fact that it was "a work […]

I have an offer to make: do you want to run an instance on the fediverse for a group that's underrepresented here?

I'll pay the bills. Period.

I'll do admin if needed (software updates and the like). But you decide what kind of community you want it to be, so you put together the mod team.

DM me.

Mind-blowing fact from @ben during #fediforum : in an fundraising experiment, he was able to raise more donations for #propublica on the Fediverse than on any other social channel. 🤯

hey wanna see something kinda interesting? this was the entire fix to the iPhone Antennagate in 2010. 20 bytes.

(this is going to be a very long thread 🧵)
Assembly code between iOS 4.0 and 4.0.1. It's basically the same except one instruction points to a different address. A lookup table tweaked between 4.0 and 4.0.1.

🆕 blog! “How to *actually* test your readme”

If you've spent any time using Linux, you'll be used to installing software like this:

The README says to download from this link. Huh, I'm not sure how to unarchive .tar.xz files - guess I'll search for that. Right, it says run setup.sh hmm, that […]

🧵🚓 Last week saw the news that the police weren't going to bother investing the theft of bikes at train stations, if the bike has been left for more than two hours (so basically all bikes at train stations).

BBC London had the story, featuring our CEO, Tom Fyans... 👇

@enobacon @daihard In the UK, "cyclist" is just the formal term for someone riding a pedal-powered vehicle on the country's roads. I believe in the US they get called "bikers", which always makes me think of The Fonz.

Audacity is finally doing a UX overhaul 🥰. And from what I see in the video, they fixed all the issues I have when working with it. Cannot wait until it is released.

@FourT4 I always think of the episode of The Prisoner where they use the word "flapjacks" to refer to crepes.

@pikesley (I also once wrote an entire source-build packaging system that built the LNX-BBC bootable business card operating system (which was once the FSF membership card) and was also used by GNOME briefly in the mid-2000s.)
