I have never been a serious gamer.
I occasionally played simple PC games for years in the 2000s and early 2010s, mostly football (PES).
I bought my 1st console (Xbox One S) in 2016 and again, mostly played only PES and occasionally Forza Horizon and car racing.

For about a week or more, my Windows 10 laptop has been running very slowly and consuming huge amounts of disk space.
Previously I could hibernate for up to a week (I know, I know 🙄) and resume usage daily and it would function speedily as normal.
I don't know what's wrong, but I have suspicions
