I cannot fathom having so many coconuts that you routinely sell them with a hole and a straw popped in as a beverage. Yet, here we are...

Happy to be doing my second summer solstice for 2026! Though only being 14 degrees south of the equator doesn't make it feel incredibly solstice-y 😄☀️

I do love to shop at bookstores when I travel but American Samoa has been particularly challenging on that front. I was so desperate I even asked a bartender (response? panicked look and vagueness 😄). Fortunately, I'm one of those librarians who visits public libraries when I travel 1/2

Saw the sun in American Samoa today and my heart was so, so happy.

Ugh, my life. I might need to get a light box if this continues much longer.
California's Central Valley has been shrouded in Tule fog for the last 16 days.

Powerful video that paired very well with my latest read!

I love to see Josh performing in the Pacific. Based solely on my upcoming travels, I'd be extra, extra happy if he'd drop by some South Pacific locations such as American Samoa.

Mmmm! Finally something substantive to pin my hopes on - I'm definitely looking forward to January 15th so I can start enjoying myself some new Star Trek! www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMsF...

Binged through the first season of Alien: Earth. Some of the things were pretty middling/annoying but now I've rediscovered my love of Timothy Olyphant and I want to bring this little cutie pie home (I don't even like Funko Pops!).

Pondering the level of frustration that inspired the creation of this FAQ 🤣😅

I just finished watching The Resident and, much like Detective Cupp, I must stare at people with incomprehension when they say they fear birds. It's a lifestyle choice, I guess?

Do I need to get a light box for the one year in these global warming times that the tule fog is back to sucking the life out of me?
November 30, 2025 at 7:07 AM
Nooooo! I'm so over the tule fog 😭
For the most part, it's looking like a mostly dry and warm start to December across much of the Southwest including much of California--with the major exception of the Central Valley, where a cold/damp tule fog layer may persist for a while yet. [Thread]

Flash of inspiration! I've been fully cognizant of the worst aspects of the New York Times for a long time, but have been unable to unsubscribe since I feel there's no less worse source for all the news I want... Hmmmm!

I know some anti-nukes film was shot in a place I'm from (Amazing Grace and Chuck??) but it's that terrible fishing film (A River Runs Through It) that my hometown is best known for (I refuse to acknowledge that Horse Whisperer or Yellowstone shit). www.imdb.com/title/tt0105...

I'm rewatching the 1983 tv miniseries V! I have Millennial friends who profess to have zero understanding of popular culture items released before they were born. Sucks to be them that they can't even begin to imagine the shared cultural experience of a tv miniseries.

It was a very Star Trek weekend for me! Just ask me how I feel about seeing Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan on an (olde timey) big screen or how I feel about seeing a 94-year-old guy (Bill) starting a Q&A session at 11:00 PM!! LOL, I don't think you will so take this photo instead.

I recorded a short video op-ed to help cut through the noise surrounding the ongoing COP30 climate conference. In short: now is not the time to scale back our efforts to address climate change--quite the opposite, as the intensifying consequences have never been clearer.
Now is not the time to scale back efforts to address climate change!
As the #COP30 #climate conference unfolds, competing narratives from scientists, politicians, and influential billionaires swirl. In this brief video op-ed, climate scientist Daniel Swain cuts through the noise to explain why the present moment is an especially consequential one--including where wer
