I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

Prices dropped 25% during the Great Depression. I hear everyone had a great time.

ANDREESSEN: Even if AI ends up destroying all the jobs, “the result would be hyper-deflation of prices, which is the thing that people miss. .. Things that today cost a lot of money will all of a sudden be cheap or free.”

Some lady apparently saw them doing that and called the cops so they had to explain that to em

Then they got pulled over again while going up the road to get the windshield replaced!

That time they needed reference footage for the pedestrians you splatter in Carmageddon so one of the devs stuffed his clothes with cardboard and volunteered to be hit by a car repeatedly

I'd love to see it get a modern remaster (or at least a port) but it doesn't look like Nintendo has any plans for it at the moment. Fun game though!

With the next major release on the Switch (and Wii U) bringing a focus on open-ended design and emergent gameplay unlike any prior game in the series. That was Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which would become by far the franchise's best-selling game.

We'll talk about that one tomorrow!

Maybe it's a bit of a cheat to make a direct followup to a proven classic like that, but it certainly paid off for Nintendo, selling over 4 million copies. Pretty high by 3DS standards!

It also worked in enough new elements to hint at what they had in mind for future entries...

A pretty clever twist for the story, I think. And well, that also sums up the game in general. It clearly draws a lot of influence from Link to the Past, but changes up its dungeons, design and gameplay enough to feel like a fresh experience.

To their surprise, though, Link and Zelda wish upon their Triforce to restore the destroyed Triforce of Lorule, giving them the means to restore their doomed world, though seemingly separating it from Hyrule permanently.

Ravio convinces Link and Hilda to stand down. Hilda return the two Triforce pieces and return Link and Zelda to their own world, seemingly accepting their fate despite some positive words.
spoonshiro.com
Once he's defeated, Link confronts Hilda. Ravio intervenes, revealing that he's Lorule's equivalent to Link, and enlisted his counterpart's help to thwart the alliance of Hilda and Yuga, as he lacked the courage to face them himself.

Zelda tosses you the Bow of Light for the final phase, where you have to go into painting mode to strike him with the Light Arrows and knock him back out to strike with the Master Sword.

You battle Ganon-Yuga, who once again attacks with a large spear, boomeranging it around the room and teleporting to try and catch you off guard. You'll also have to knock his projectiles back at him a la Agahnim.

Without the power of the goddesses, though, the world began to fall apart at the seams. They learned of Hyrule having its own Triforce and conspired to steal it away in order to save Lorule from destruction.
spoonshiro.com
Yep, they were in league the entire time. More out of desperation than anything, though. Lorule's current state is the result of Hilda's ancestors destroying their own world's Triforce as a means to end the wars waged over its power.

The seven sages are restored, and grant Link the power of the Triforce of Courage.

You return to Lorule Castle to confront Yuga, only to be betrayed. Hilda steals away the Triforce of Wisdom from Zelda, then commands Yuga to slay you and take the Triforce of Courage.

The Ice Ruins are up on Death Mountain, requiring the fire rod and the Hookshot to traverse.

The boss within is Dharkstare, a critter frozen in a block of ice you have to melt before it can be harmed.

we’re always talking about majora’s mask and twilight princess when it comes to the darker aspects of the legend of zelda, but what are some dark and emotionally heavy elements from the other zelda games that we do not talk about enough? 🕸️
