Will feature what Mary Whitehouse wrote in her diary about the Mary Whitehouse experience.

We (that's @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social and @gkw.bsky.social ) are recording episode 2 of our new podcast Through the Square Window tomorrow, looking at shows from October 1990: The Mary Whitehouse Experience; Watchdog; Knightmare and Twin Peaks. Jump in here if you've any thoughts.

My first few weeks at uni! Mary Whitehouse Experience absolutely epitomises that time period for me. Queued in Dillons-as-was to get their big book signed.

Thanks for that. Ep 2 will be mid October.

Enjoyed the first ep of @squarewindowpod.bsky.social where @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social and @gkw.bsky.social focus on a week in vintage television, putting it into cultural context

My mother once told me she was worried, my young children weren’t watching enough television. No such worries when she was raising me, obvs…📺
Check out ep 1 of @gkw.bsky.social & my new podcast @squarewindowpod.bsky.social wherever you listen, or via our website:

Listen up! Fawlty Towers, Angels, Shadows, Leap In The Dark and the mighty Space 1999 are among the September 1975 telly shows revisited in great new podcast Through The Square Window. #TVSky 📺

Loved this. Particularly the bit about Leap in the Dark, an odd series. There's an amazing ep in S3, In the Mind's Eye, about a hoax that created an urban legend . We meet people who know the legend - and the perpetrators who are clearly many pints down as they tell their tale.

I loved the first episode. In particular, I loved that you looked at who was making the programmes and the environment they were making them in. Can't wait for next week!

Aww, thank you. But, worth stating that we're not back until next month.

Our friend, the journalist Paul Simper, has been in touch to confirm he definitely watched the BBC hospital drama Angels back in 1975.

That is very kind of you, David. Thank you!

Thank you for going to the trouble of making a show especially for me.
Seriously though - if you miss the days when TV Cream used to make podcasts and also want to listen to two eloquent, knowledgeable people who really value television, then this is definitely one to subscribe to.
