There are few artists who can be called "genius," but Jacques Tati #BOTD was undeniably one.
If you need an introduction, I'd suggest MR. HULOT'S HOLIDAY (1953), and then MON ONCLE (1958).
His masterwork, PLAYTIME (1967), is without question one of the greatest films ever made.
