🎄Day 11 🎄: Multi-panel figures!

The R package {patchwork} makes professional-looking multi-panel figures like this SUPER easy to do.

This means more efficient story telling, saved space, and clearer comparisons between groups.

This week, we had the Third #Epiverse TRACE Summit at MRC The Gambia 🇬🇲.

With collaborators from three continents (🇬🇲🇨🇴🇬🇧), we delivered open software tools (17 R packages) and a growing training programme to support global, locally tailored epidemiological solutions.

The best first sentence of a grant application I've read was (paraphrasing), "Tool X is widely used to do task Y; we will make it accessible to people living with condition Z (13% of the population) so that it is more equitable and more widely used". Let's unpack why, because there's a lesson. 🧵

Thanks everyone who came to our first event at NHM! We had fantastic talks from Kate Jones (@profkatej.bsky.social), Sarah Hill, Andres Valenzuela-Sanchez & Natalie Imirzian, from zoonoses and viral genomes, to frogs and drones. We're back in February at UCL @ucl-pnl.bsky.social - watch this space 🦟

Hello Bluesky! We’re Applied Epi! What do we want? To improve Applied Epidemiology worldwide! When do we want it? Well probably in an achievable timeframe that doesn’t completely destroy a much needed and already existing infrastructure that is overburdened!
