“The World We Make” by N. K. Jamison wraps the plot up nicely, but due to condensing the planned trilogy to a duology we don’t get enough character interaction or reasonable character development. Like reading a summary at times, but I love the world. 3/5 ⭐️

I just feel so lost. How do ordinary citizens make *anything* happen? Our country is so big and there are so many people we have elected who should be fighting for *everyone* but aren’t doing a damn thing to uphold their oaths. I know, I know. Protest, resist, etc. But *how*?!

Easy to give, and makes an immediate difference. Start your week off with some good.
We could all benefit from putting some good into the world in whatever way we can, no matter how small. Here's something you can do today to help a neighbor get to where they need to go and to let them know their community cares.

Truly a man of the people 🙄

Biggest scam ever pulled was this douchebag convincing average Americans he’s one of them.
New 2024 data: Over 50% of GOP fundraising now comes from just 100 mega-donors.

Trump’s embrace of the billionaire class—and their embrace of him—will only supercharge this trend.

Paul Pelosi made $38 million in stock trades leading up to Trump’s inauguration, including investing in a small AI firm whose shares rose nearly 50% last week.

This has again raised the issue of Congressional stock trading, especially as federal involvement in AI increases.

The word social is in socialism for a reason. Having the 'right' politics on your own is not enough, and even if it was, it's impossible to do anything about it without working together.

The architects of the DEI purge -- Rufo and Hanania in particular -- are straight-up white nationalists who are engaged in a systemic project to dismantle as much of the Civil Rights Act as possible without having to explicitly admit what they're doing.

I think the better strategy is to relentlessly hammer the truth:

1) RFK Jr. is going to stop research into lifesaving cures

2) And he has no experience managing massive, complex programs like Medicare & Medicaid that provide the care you/your family rely on

The perfect escape for tonight, “All We Imagine as Light” is a beautiful story of love, friendship, and simply existing. Gorgeously edited and scored, the difference between bustling Mumbai and a quiet seaside village is core to the themes of the film. Definitely recommend.

A good day to read this, and an important reminder that the gender binary is a social construct and moving beyond it will benefit everyone. Yet another example of how Western “culture” truly has been the most destructive force in history.

We cannot let this normalization of treason go unacknowledged. Trump is saying that whatever you do for him, there will be no consequences. This is not a small thing!

Something that has become increasingly clear to me is that Democrats are the new right-wing party and Republicans are fascists. We really need a leftist party in this country who cares about the average citizen and not the billionaire class. Joining the DSA to start, and getting involved locally.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

“A Real Pain” (2024) from Jesse Eisenberg is an awkward and heartfelt look at two cousins facing their changed relationship and different lives via the lens of a Holocaust tour through Poland after their grandmother’s passing. Great performance from Kieran Culkin anchored this one.

Watched “Reservoir Dogs” today for my movie club, and the 1992 film from Quentin Tarantino seems to just be offensive for the sake of it. A couple of good performances from Keitel and Buscemi can’t make up for the thin plot and unnatural conversations.
