This is the most basic Black/Brown family dynamic there is. You can have cousins who aren't your cousins but are children of your parent's friends, aunts and uncles who are your actually your older cousins, siblings who are your cousins cuz y'all were raised together. It's a very flexible system.
Nothing says "we got nothing, absolutely nothing" more than the anti-Mamdani side trying to make a scandal out of him referring to his mom's cousin as an "aunt"
