I've just written up a 'state of play' on where we are now in UK Higher Education, read it and it's ok to weep a little bit. The long and short is this 'genuinely world-leading' 'sector' is a public good, but certainly isn't treated or funded like one, and the entire UK is paying the price.

Lord Edis, the senior presiding judge for England and Wales, has ordered that sentencing of convicted criminals who are currently on bail should be delayed from Monday, as the prison estate is full.

I think one of the worst quirks of online spaces is the idea that if someone doesn't post about something, they don't care about it. It encourages performative posting often makes things worse.
