The kind of flying back then was incredibly tough. Here's Marvel Crosson - she died in the 1929 air race and I think was the coolest aviatrix of the era. (There were a lot of cool female pilots!) (I just love this picture, so any chance to share it and I will!)

From our exhibition on school nursing: this early 1900s pamphlet by the Liverpool Queen Victoria District Nursing Association, which explores the role of the school nurse in the late 1890s. You can read more about this item and the display from the curator's blog post here: bit.ly/4mKVaoe
A vintage pamphlet titled "Liverpool Victoria District Nursing Association Queen's Nurses." On the left is a cover depicting a seated Queen Victoria giving one nurse a badge, with other nurses queuing in the background. On the right is an open page of the pamphlet displaying two black-and-white photos. The first is of a nurse and two children with the caption "A School's Nurse" written underneath. The second shows a line-up of young primary school aged children. The surrounding text describes the role of District Queen's Nurses and in a school setting during the 1890s and early 1900s.
