There's a quirk in one of the Minnesota accents (Scandinavian Lutheran, IIRC, the Fargo accent) where "bars" is pronounced with a soft S on the end, rather than the Z sound typical of pluralization. I've adopted this as the "correct" pronunciation even in my city accent.
