Dear bsky:

If someone quotes you (initial post or response) with text and they have reply/quote off for that post:

THAT PERSON DOES NOT WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. DO NOT TRY TO RESPOND BY REPLYING TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH MY ID SO IT SHOWS UP IN MY NOTIFICATIONS. I AM JUST A PASSING BREEZE, LET ME BE.
There are several GUI frontends for systemd including a Plasma module.

And NetworkManager is easier to use. One uses the other. Layers.
The *theory* behind systemd is good. But practically, it's got some way to go yet.

That there's no TUI or GUI to configure it is also a painpoint. It's also not clear why NetworkManager is still required to make things work if systemd-networkd is used. It's duplication of functionality.

Plasma drops support for non-systemd? Good.

Cry me a river, systemd haters.

You know what would be better than an AI kill switch? Having Mozilla not put any AI in Firefox in the first place.

Use Firefox alternatives like LibreWolf or Zen that disables AI completely with no option to enable.

The impact that it had was ushering in a new era of garbage style over substance games that are closer to movies than actual games. People should be ashamed that this is what has taken over gaming.
Final Fantasy VII turns 29 years old tomorrow.

I've seen it called 'overrated', and I know that's common for most popular titles.

But make no mistake, it had an enormous impact on gaming, and it's beloved by so many gamers for good reason. I can't, and won't, diminish it.

FFVII is a masterpiece.

Fornicate frozen water.

And people will still cry about the one or two games that need some pathetic low level system hack to do anti-cheat that they for some reason NEED to play as if there aren't tons of alternatives as a poor excuse to stay with the failing OS Windows.

Also, Heroic game launcher exists which is a good replacement for Epic's Windows only bloated launcher.
Epic Games launcher isn’t available on Linux. I tried launching a game I have on Epic on Ubuntu and it took almost no effort (it was a Windows game as well). I see no value that Windows could add to my PC anymore.
January 20, 2026 at 2:47 PM
People would lose access to copyright-stealing, energy-sucking, potentially inaccurate or misleading to the point of being dangerous AI slop?

GREAT!!

AI is a horrible technology that needs to disappear forever.
No it wouldn't???

Metroid Prime is a hell of a lot more playable with PrimeHack. Congratulations to someone smarter than Nintendo who figured out FPS and FPS-like games shouldn't be controlled with a damn gamepad or some laughably bad waggle remote and fixed the game.

S: NES
A: SNES, Gameboy, GBC
B: GBA
C: Gamecube, Switch
D: All the various versions of the freaking DS, Switch 2, WiiU
F: Wii, second worst controller ever.
BAD: N64. Worst controller and game library ever.
Before I go to bed, here's my thoughts on each Nintendo console based on the games themselves and not the console, how good it feels to play, etc. as I...

Haven't really played all the consoles, just the games lol
January 20, 2026 at 6:59 AM
Using VR makes no sense. Why should I buy an overpriced TV you strap on your face that blocks out everything and put buggy and imprecise glorified Wiimotes in your hands as controllers?

Linux devs don't waste time on VR trash and so it doesn't work as well. Keep your toy OS for your gimmick.
January 20, 2026 at 6:35 AM
When you make up problems literally no one else has or is a problem with every OS (sleep/hibernation), people rightfully think you're just a troll, probably one paid by Microsoft.
I'm not very happy with people telling me these problems I have experienced aren't real
January 18, 2026 at 5:38 AM
Ugh. Survived two fire-and-brimstone preachers in the last three weeks at two funerals I needed to go to.

Infuriating how much crud spews from their mouths to influence the grieving and the youth to join their cult and feed these liars money that isn't even taxed. Should be illegal.
January 8, 2026 at 7:02 PM
You have zero excuses at this point. Microsoft doesn't care about you or your computer or your data or anything that you do.

Linux does.

All the silly "I CAN'T RUN [insert proprietary garbage that has a Linux alternative just as good]" and "MY GARBAGE ANTICHEAT ROOTKIT GAMES!" excuses are done.
Microsoft is so fucking stupid.

Microsoft renamed Microsoft Office to Microsoft 365 Copilot App

I'm not joking
January 5, 2026 at 10:09 PM
These people will bend over backwards to make sure they post that their proprietary garbage software won't run in Linux and this means Linux is completely unusable.

THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES. GOOD ONES. USE THEM INSTEAD.

They're just trolling, really.
January 5, 2026 at 10:04 PM
VR is trash that should be dead anyway. You're fighting vendor lock-in, non-free crap they only want running on their approved devices for a sub-par, confusing, nauseating experience that dangerously blocks your senses off from reality. Don't support it.
Hard does not fix practically impossible
Ive ran Linux since Fedora core 4.

It's still absolutely useless for VR unless you Buy only certain brands of headsets and Hardware that work...

Shame really.
The OS is great. Rest sucks.

Unserious system for serious work? Must be why it's running workstations and servers and supercomputers that do serious work... oh wait...

Try harder, Microsoft-paid shill. Linux is easy as anything to configure, use, and work with.
the real problem is that Linux is an unserious system unfit for serious work. it redirects creative flow into meta-work, such as the configuration and modification of the system (which is not inherently bad, but which takes up a great portion of user time). i see this trend constantly #runbsd
January 3, 2026 at 11:35 PM
PEBCAK issue. Any competent user isn't able to break it.

Of course, you're probably just a Microsoft-paid troll, so no one needs to listen to you either way.
Linux is really the only operating system where you can go from using it to bricked in 15 minutes.

Every other operating system asks tons of questions and takes forever to brick.

2026 resolution: to get every single one of you to use Linux.
January 1, 2026 at 12:48 PM
Why do people use Discord? It's a non-free, spyware, unreliable pile of trash. Go back to IRC for real chat and use any of the vastly superior solutions (like Steam!) for voice chat.

It's really embarrassing when people using Linux insist on using it. Stop it.

"Familiarity"

The excuses just keep on coming, don't they?

Please, everyone: look up Baby Duck Syndrome. Take it to heart.

And yet if you only had one choice of cars, or bread, or whatever, you'd complain. If you went all in on an automatic transmission car, would you complain about the lack of a clutch?

Please stop spreading this fallacy that too much choice is bad and take responsibility for your choice.
I don't need 8 or 5 options, i need a quick way to do it, and on Ubuntu, i get zero, which is sad.
The variety of distros also adds to the difficulty to navigate.
Anyway, thanks for your help!
December 29, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Baby duck syndrome. You aren' familiar enough with them, therefore you don't believe they are capable enough. I could say the same about the programs you use, but I at least know it's due to my inexperience with them, not their capabilities.

Stop spreading these falsehoods.
