Over here if I want to put my kids on the bus (who go to 2 different schools ~2mins away from each other) one would have to go to their bus stop a 20min walk away from home in one direction, the other would have to go 20mins away in the other direction. And early AM too of course.

So we drive them.

Maybe only people named Al get a free signature, everyone else has to pay

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Phantom Island: Gizz are always a good time. This time with orchestra!

Little Simz - Lotus: UK hip hop is outside of my wheelhouse, but Simz always kills it.

Haley Heynderickx & Max García Conover - What Of Our Nature: REALLY nice & poignant tunes for our times.

All the while the classic rock station is playing through the speakers with songs that came out when you were an adult.

That jives with my thoughts on it as well. The good is good, it isn't going anywhere, and it's going to get better as the young talent gains experience.

The bad is ugly but not unfixable. It's a very young team that hit injuries & goalie woes simultaneously + defence takes more time to develop.

Things sure changed when the injuries hit. Big chunk of the middle of the lineup suddenly gone long-term & now it's a team with 2 have & 2 have not lines, at least in terms of offensive production. The haves can't support both the have nots AND the goaltending disappearing. They can only do so much.

All those Price years, dreaming of offensive talent to go with him. Now there's offensive talent and dreaming of Price to go with it.

That's the ageist part of the brain, best to ignore it.

depressingly little stamp collector content at the Calgary Stampede

We're suffering from a severe bout of constipostion.

Yup, far less than this. This is right smack dab in the middle of a full blown snowstorm. Makes me think forecasts and storm hype hold more weight than actual conditions on the ground when it comes to making the call.
December 8, 2025 at 12:43 PM
HARD AGREE. Just back from driving the kids to school. I've seen them cancel over maybe storms where nothing actually materializes before, but today with an actual storm with 2-3 foot drifts and treacherous driving conditions? Nada. FFS.

Even worse than that New Radicals song? Holy moly, remind me to steer clear!
December 5, 2025 at 5:21 PM
It's a lot more interesting when you think of it as a sinister song about the execution of Lee Peace.

My Uncle Al? Nah, he mostly rants about conservatives on FB.

But how else would the people possibly know that there's liquor to be bought from the only place allowed to sell it?!?
December 4, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Probably would have welcomed that trial a few hours earlier but hey take what you can get!

I share a driveway with my neighbour who has a plow on his truck, but he works overnights. We clear snow in a whoever can get to it first manner, this time I was the lucky winner.

I don't know if UK hip-hop would be up your alley, and it isn't really up mine, but Little Simz is a definite exception. She released Lotus this year and it's pretty good.

Continues to be hilarious to me that John Parish ranks so highly when my listens to him are exclusively songs from the 2 albums he did with PJ Harvey.

In just over 4 month's of listening.

She finds her way back into my ears a LOT, and assuming that trend stays the same I'll be curious to see how a full year shakes out next year.
