Dartmoor is my local wild place. I love it's drama and beauty. But large areas are effectively becoming desert, mostly due to overgrazing. 💔

Great article with thoughts from @tonydartmoor.bsky.social and @guyshrubsole.bsky.social

Good luck @wildjustice.bsky.social with your legal case on thanks.

The thing is, heatwaves and drought will be an annual summer norm going forward, so she can't avoid announcing her ignorance during a period of heatwaves and drought - unless she leaves it to the coming stormy winter.

Seems like an expensive list of useful activities to me. Presumably the ecological assessment work they state they're working on can be mirrored by independent scientists, practitioners etc?

The Mediterranean region is warming 20% faster than the global average 🌡️, a #climatechange hotspot where many vulnerabilities are increasing. Here you can see the summer anomalies for the sea surface temperature since 1982. #dataviz #rstats

At @fightingdirty.bsky.social, we sued over this issue, and lost on the grounds that the Environment Agency couldn't be in breach because the government had issued no direction. An absurdity, which means that poisons continue to be spread on farmland every day. 🧵

How can we communicate conservation issues without alienating the very people we need to reach? And what happens when a creative professional decides to transform four fields in Wicklow into a biodiversity haven while documenting every step for others to follow?

The guest on the left has shoulder-length brown hair and a beard, wearing a brown and cream chequered flannel shirt. The podcast host on the right has short dark hair and a beard, wearing a dark patterned fleece jacket. Both men are smiling at the camera in what appears to be a natural countryside setting with tall grass and mature trees creating a scenic outdoor backdrop.

Us taxpayers have been handing £3 billion each and every year for decades. What more do these farmers want?

Personal choice. I personally will give it a go when it's available. Whether many will remains to be seen I guess.

It's the plant people love to hate... and it's going to be everywhere this summer.

But ragwort is actually a wildlife powerhouse. Read the blog my Knepp's lead ecologist Matt Phelps: https://knepp.co.uk/2025/06/a-big-year-for-ragwort-the-plant-we-love-to-hate/

Quibbling over whether burning waste is better than putting it in landfill

Is like arguing over whether it is better to be poisoned by toxic air or polluted water

The answer is to reduce, re-use, recycle

That’s why we’re protesting against this madness of building incinerators
