Think governments should be better at doing policy?

Here's an idea that could help.

January isn’t all bad. It’s been a good morning.

Love it how old school philosophers could just make astute observations from their armchair (with no data provided in support) and just be absolutely nailed-on correct.

Here’s Adam Smith casually asserting ‘loss aversion’.

Honestly, the primary reason I've moved away from Twitter isn't really because of the man in charge, it's just because it's become an actively hostile platform to be on. I just don't enjoy it any more.
This can be about building healthy alternative spaces with less trolls, not pushing people to quit

There may be voices (eg police forces, teacher & headteacher unions, sports fans, anti-racism NGOs) who want to make it about leaving Musk/X for specific reasons related to their values & interests

Is it everyone else's fault that you are fat, poor, and drunk?

Here's how to make a New Year resolution that you can stick to:

Merry Christmas. No matter what we believe, this is a good time to reflect on what it means to be human, together.

Love this article from Andy Haldane, always a refreshing voice.

For too long, economists treated norms as ‘given’ in their models. I think the softer side of the economy (like culture/community) is going to be of increasing focus in the years to come.

Happening to come across @pilitaclark.bsky.social’s FT article after just tucking into a slice of this exact (delicious) bread has given me such satisfaction.

I had no idea the company was even socially motivated, very cool!

Even if you don’t read my article, do read Shakespeare’s fifteenth sonnet

Alcohol can be a tricky topic. I’ve had many years to dwell on my own relationship with it.

Here's my latest post:

This is one of my favourite posts from last year.

It's about Shakespeare, his fifteenth sonnet, and what lessons we can learn from the field of anthropology regarding how the literary tradition might change over time:

Finding it staggering how identical BlueSky is to Twitter in terms of user interface/layout.

Some place, somewhere an intellectual property lawyer is rubbing their hands with glee.
