I read somewhere that BlueSky is allegedly dying because nobody new is coming here. Considering that Xwitter is owned by a Nazi and Facebook has become the daytime network television of the internet, I think I'd rather be here.

I have some thoughts: about this:

- There's no reason for ICE agents or police to show up here looking like soldiers in a war zone.

- That guy violently shoving a protester reminds me more of a school bully than anyone with any authority, which says a lot about who gets hired for these jobs.
I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE.

Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it.

Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

I still go on Facebook because most of the people I know are there. I keep getting ads insisting that I learn how to use ChatGPT and AI in general for practically everything.

It's not happening.

Every time I listen to new music, I'm shocked at how bad it sounds. It's not that the music itself is bad; it's just horribly mixed and overly compressed. It doesn't sound like it's made by human beings anymore, and it isn't pleasant to listen to.

The classic rock station in my area is playing mostly 90s rock now. This was stuff that came out when I was in middle school that I thought was the epitome of cool at the time.

I should angst about how that makes me feel old, but all it means is that I think my classic rock station is cool again.

I'm convinced MAGA Republicans are evil. It's not about ideological differences or disagreements about what's best for this country anymore. They're evil, and they want anyone who doesn't fit into their worldview to die. They're no better than Nazis.

You know those annoying AI voices that narrate every cute animal video on Facebook? Prepare to have them narrate entire novels to you.

Yeah, I don't think I can handle that. At least the voice I hear in my head when I read something shows emotion.

Incidentally, PayPal is owned by Elon Musk, which probably explains its reliance on a shitty AI that might withhold your money if someone pays what they owe you or just wants to help you out when you're in a bind.

I will never use it again, and neither should you.
May 13, 2025 at 10:38 PM
PSA: Never send money to someone through PayPal if they need it right away. Their AI might decide to send it as an e-check that will take roughly two weeks to clear. Yes, even if you have a verified bank account. There is no way to prevent that or reverse it if it happens.

I'm pretty sure ICE is legally allowed to enter people's homes without a warrant now. I'm willing to bet that at least one agent is going to meet the business end of a shotgun. The right will probably spin that and make immigrants look even more like dangerous criminals.
Yeah that's right we're getting meta now

If you told me that this was a comedy bit, I would believe it.

I know I'm not smart enough to be in public office, and I still think I'm smarter than guys like this who actually have the job. It's not a good feeling.
It might be time to bring sex ed back to Texas schools.

During a Texas budget debate, Rep. Andy Hopper (R) proposed an amendment to completely cut state funding for UT Austin over its LGBTQIA+ and DEI-related programs.

This stuff reminds me of when the Sandy Hook shooter was reported to be autistic. That terrified me because I thought autistic people would be seen as dangerous.

Autism doesn't make you dangerous or turn you into a Nazi. Stop using neurodivergence as an excuse for shitty behavior.
"Do you know one thing I never did to cope or in response to my autism? Repeatedly fire off a Nazi Roman salute." An incredible piece from The Big Picture that doesn’t hold back.
Neither Neurodivergence Nor Mental Illness Made Them Bigots—They're Just Awful People
It's hard to admit your heroes are jerks, but the mentally ill and neurodivergent shouldn't be collateral damage.

South Korean democracy did not survive because people took to the streets (though some did, and were likely a factor).

The legislature refused to accept the president's illegal power grab, some members of his party voted to impeach, the high court said law applies to him.

The institutions are key.
As they ramp up their rhetoric to enact their martial law fantasy, please keep in mind that South Korea deftly defeated this same shit by standing up, taking to the streets, and demanding Justice.

What power does he have if we refuse?

This is how he's always done everything, isn't it? He runs businesses into the ground without suffering any serious personal consequences, and he's either too stupid to see that he ruins others' lives or is too self-centered to care.

The sacrifices made during World War II were because we were pulled unwillingly into a global conflict. The "sacrifices" we need to make now are because of a dick-measuring contest started by a spoiled manchild.

I don't think I can take much more of this.
Fox News host Harris Faulkner sparked anger after suggesting that President Trump tell retirees and those worried about losing their retirement savings due to his tariffs that they should treat it like the sacrifices Americans made during World War II.

There's also the theory that he's intentionally sowing the seeds of chaos and dissent so that he'll be granted "emergency powers" that will keep him in office indefinitely to keep the country from falling apart. I don't know if he's smart enough to do that intentionally and make it work, though.
The “methods for doing so” are (1) getting two thirds of Congress and three fourths of the states to repeal the 22nd Amendment and (2) declaring himself king.

That’s it.

Stop treating this despotic bullshit as if it’s some worthwhile thought experiment we have to consider as legitimate.
President Trump did not rule out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, which is prohibited by the Constitution under the 22nd Amendment, saying in an exclusive interview with NBC News that there were methods for doing so and clarifying that he was “not joking.”

Military mom here: fire every one of the assholes who endangered the lives of American troops with a Signal chat.
March 28, 2025 at 12:48 AM
Also, everyone's talking about the leaked Signal chat, but nobody's talking about what's actually in that chat. They were discussing the intentional bombing of civilians. We have cut-and-dry evidence that this administration is committing war crimes.
March 27, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Yup. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the modern Republican party running this administration is evil, and they only thing they can do well is spread their evil in ways that benefit them. They are laughably incompetent beyond that.
This is the simplest and most obvious explanation.
March 27, 2025 at 7:31 PM
I've always respected the opinions of Republicans even when I didn't agree with them. I've had close friends and family members who were Republicans, and we've always agreed to disagree on a lot of things. I don't think I can do that anymore.
