You're looking for Zombieland: Double Tap, lol.
sting.bsky.social
Only zombie movie I can think of that genuinely has as its thesis "it's very fun to kill all your icky gross neighbors and family members" is Peter Jackson's Braindead and y'know... it's very persuasive about that shit even if it's trying to make you vomit.

Train to Busan's deaths HURT, even the dickhead characters are pitiable. The Walking Dead comic books and video games (and what little I've seen of the tv show) establish that every bullet fired takes a bit of the assailant's soul with him. I don't think even comedies portray zombie society as fun.
sting.bsky.social
Maybe I'm lucky in that I haven't seen shit like Z Nation or played them calls of duty zombie games, but I feel like the best contemporary zombie media uses that material to stress the toll taking even an undead life takes on you. Like Dawn of the Dead '04 is an action movie but the deaths HURT.

in retrospect i think the "zombie" tv/movie craze that encouraged everyone to fantasize about how theyd murk all their neighbors, hole up in their house and eventually run into the woods , was a mistake

I'm built different, I may stop thinking highly of an artist as a human being (if I ever thought that highly) but the prime interface I will always have with these people is their art and if they make art that speaks to me, I will not turn away from exposing myself to more of it.

Brother, if people were paid in proportion to the amount of abuse they get on the job, the service industry would be made up of billionaires lol.
mattzollerseitz.bsky.social
I wanna say a word here on behalf of the people who run social media accounts for institutions, companies & famous people. By and large, they are not "interns." The bigger the client, the more they get paid, because managing the waves of public opinion is tricky, and the amount of abuse is unending.

Yeah, like reading the piece suggests maybe I wouldn't be able to hold a conversation on him with anything (as though it'd be worth either of our time) but I'm still rooting for the guy because I liked Horizon 1 and want to see the rest of the story.
coreyatad.com
big trade hit pieces on Kevin Costner are perfectly fine by me, but i still wanna see Horizon 2 (and Horizon 3 and Horizon 4)
sting.bsky.social
I'm including 2, sorry.

No matter how much I upgrade Holy Grail, I HAVE to keep the DVD because the fake-out with "Dentist on the Job" cracks me up.

Didn't happen from the pandemic, but it does remind me of the time I couldn't see The Nightingale because a fucking hurricane made Miami close up again (sound low or off, this shit's loud, mute it and pretend it's The Godfather Part III ending).

Seeing how many of the John & Faith Hubley shorts were removed from Criterion Channel in October and man, we need a fucking restored blu-ray of their Format Films/Storyboard works, STAT.

sting.bsky.social
I'm not even looking forward to the movie (not a PTA fan) and I think it's a damn good thing that the studio is giving a filmmaker so much money that they are not getting back lol.

if you're a person who doesn't see the unalloyed good in Warner Bros spending $150 million on a loose Pynchon adaptation by Paul Thomas Anderson, we simply do not occupy the same reality

It's insanely fucked up that we got Strangers Chapter 2 released before Horizon Chapter 2.

Back when I lived in Astoria, my roommate was this 50-something Algerian fella who used to be a chauffeur for the Kaufman Studios and dude had a bad word for every single person he drove, calling them all assholes EXCEPT Aykroyd. That was the only fella he fucked with lol. Hated his wife tho lmao.
srirachachau.bsky.social
Just learning now that Dan Aykroyd was very, very briefly engaged to Carrie Fisher. He proposed to her on The Blues Brothers and it ended when she reunited with Paul Simon. What an incredible man with an incredible life
