A decent snowstorm! Probably at least 10 inches, as a great deal melted initially. This photo is of a deck with furniture and a pergola looking out over a lot of trees. There are a couple of bird feeders covered in finches and pine siskins.

I wasn’t excited about the Razorbill for today’s #Birbfest, and then I found pictures of one among sea pinks and got real excited remembering the Puffin Rock vibe, and this happened! I’ll toss a process video in the comments.

I love the photos of this bird, but I’m not sure I captured him. I’m sharing anyway! Sometimes stuff isn’t perfect an hour and a half in and that’s ok.

Some kalij pheasants, beautiful birds, for the second to last day of #ArtAdventCalendar. I liked these two and how they bowed to each other, looks like a courtly dance.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies Ingredients • 1.5 c flour • .5 c cocoa • .5 c butter 1 stick softened • 1c sugar • .25 tsp salt • .25 tsp baking soda • .25 tsp baking powder • 1 egg • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract • 6 oz chocolate chips • .5 c sweetened condensed milk • Around 15 maraschino cherries and their juice. Instructions Cookies: 1. Combine flour with unsweetened cocoa, set aside. 2. In another bowl, beat and combine butter and sugar. 3. Add and beat salt, baking soda, and baking powder. 4. Add and beat one egg, 11/2 teaspoon vanilla. 5. Gradually add cocoa and flour, mixing on low. 6. Roll out into balls, pressing an indent into each cookie with your thumb. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Topping: 1. After baking, top each cookie with half a cherry. 2. Then, melt chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and 4 teaspoons of cherry juice. (I do this on low power in the microwave.) 3. Drizzle over cherry and cookie.

Our tree is finally decorated! Huzzah.
A real Christmas tree next to a fireplace with stockings and pine tree lace on the mantle. The tree has an old shiny-brite spike topper, an a huge variety of ornaments. Some are homemade by kids, some are early 1900s glass from Germany, some are White House docent ornaments, some are Star Wars, and it’s all very hodgepodge and homey.
