Always

Get

A

CONTRACT
Always always ALWAYS get a contract. Yes, even if the person is your friend. Maybe especially if the person is your friend.
Yeah, my saving grace was me making them create a mockup contract stipulating a very short period of time before they had to present a REAL contract, or lose their rights.

They never presented a real contract, so that little paper saved me when legal got involved.

If you’re pissed about Libby’s recent embrace of AI, here’s the best way you can tell them what you think (in up to 500 words AND you can ask for a response via email)!
Hey folks, tell them what you think:

It seemed a fitting start to January to draw a blue jay with feathers puffed out against the cold. I tend to think of jays as active and loud, but this one was quiet, conserving energy, perhaps, on a very cold morning in Toronto. Coloured pencil on cotton paper. #birds #SciArt

An older painting from 2024 . Need to paint more cockatiels. They are so cheeky and yet so elegant!

Oh, yeah, this a thousand times over.

It's a frame that automatically makes bothsiderization a LOT harder to do.

It puts right in the term the fact that the problem isn't the RELATIVE GAP between parties, but the ABSOLUTE GAP between the GOP and liberal democracy.
We need less research framing the problem facing our country as "polarization" and more research framing the problem as "anti-democratic radicalization".

Maybe this will help 🫠
Using your left hand, reach in and rip the cervical vertebrae from the patient's neck, turning them 90 degrees from the vertical. They won't feel a damned thing after that.

Decouple your art from your self, and do the same for every other artist. The art is what you make, but it’s not you, how people respond to it (or don’t) isn’t about you as a person. Strangers might love what you do and your loved ones might be indifferent. This is all okay.

Hijacking for TTRPG folks and game runners:

Watch fashion shows! Learn the shapes clothes can be, learn how fabrics flow, learn the words for the different parts- they all go into making compelling descriptions of characters.

And inspiration! I mean, come on. This is obviously a sorceror.

"Draw every day" is straight up bad advice

Draw regularly, yes, but the hand is a muscle and like with any skill, rest days are critical. You need to rest and recharge, read/watch/play etc in order to keep those creative juices going

If you try to force it then it's just gonna lead to burnout

Should they have cared about all this before now? Yes.

Did you reach the right position before them? Sure, here's a gold star.

Do we need their numbers to make this work? Yes. Please stop acting like the hipster who knew about this band before anyone else. We actually do need the normies.

Visual art is 80% learning to see. That means not only learning how to see, understand and evaluate the world around you, the human figure etc. But it also means learning to see, understand and evaluate your own work. Seeing is the hardest part to teach and the hardest part to learn.
