Hello fresh Blueskyers. I'm Jesse, I make all kinds of things from sculpture (physical and digital), pictures, comic books, and most recently a read-along storybook-and-record. Here are some pictures of that stuff, and of me, too. Welcome! What do you like to do?

TRON [1982]
Not only the visual and SFX were way ahead of its time, but legends of art & illustration worked on it. Here some concept art from Syd Mead and Moebius and some behind the scene photos of Jeff Bridges & Cindy Morgan in costume.

Yesterday I spent time at one of my favorite places, talking to owner/all-around wonderful person Tony Davis. Even after a decade away, I still think of it as a third place. Grateful for independent bookshops and the people who make them what they are. See you soon, @myp-comics.bsky.social.

Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world,... I feel like I can't take it. And my heart is just going to cave in.

Well... You can't really have nudity on broadcast TV or in a PG-rated movie, either, but you can have at least some sexual content. In all of these cases, there is a little "sneak it by the censors," but there isn't as much pearl-clutching as in comics.

Eyyy @schweizercomics.bsky.social drew me a lil Tri-Becca in my copy of his book! Table A-28 if you're at NYCC.

Mainstream (mostly Marvel & DC) comics remain this weirdly puritanical space where they're written for teens and adults, pretty excessive violence is okay, but when it comes to anything sexual there's suddenly a pretense that they need to be safe for children, so this stuff shows up in the margins.

Impossible to recreate the Claremont Experience in the modern age as everyone's so knowing regarding Sex People stuff

In the 70s before STAR TREK: TMP, director Philip Kaufman was developing STAR TREK: PLANET OF TITANS, a trippy, "adult" sci-fi film. He wanted Toshiro Mifune to play the Klingon antagonist, so I commissioned Klingon expert artist Palloma Barreto (www.crowlls.com) to conceptualize him in this role.

Art advice:

Never fall for buying those marker packs on the internet. Just, any time of marker. You will drop the money on them, maybe love them and use them all the time, then one will die. And your only choice to replace it, will be to buy a brand new pack of markers.

I apologize but I have a silly request. Could I sell 2 art books? Im attempting to leave the house by going to st augustine with mom and I'd love to get some jerky and popcorn. It's not a necessity, I will survive without them! But it's tradition to get them there. Thank you!

Does water come out of your faucets right now?

The Princeton-Alpine Wishbone does not have water from our taps and I'm wondering how far the outage goes.

This is just speculation on my part, but since he seems to have moved on to a a career in animation (producing Steven Universe, co-showrunner on She-Ra), I wonder if he's "good in the room," a personable guy who promotes himself and his work well, even if that work doesn't connect with comic fans.
