I'm as certain that this is AI as I am certain that they didn't hire a professional letterer.
What's a shame is that something like this would have been the perfect opportunity to commission some fan artists! Can you imagine how much good publicity that would have gotten them?

Happy 40th anniversary (WOW!) to "Batman, the Dark Knight Returns" published today in 1986. The seminal work was created by Frank Miller, Klaus Janson & Lynn Varley (Miller's then wife). Enuf cannot be said about how the entire medium of #comics were changed by this series. #comicbooks #Batman

'Starfleet Academy' using AI slop for the comic book depicted rather prominently on screen in episode six has me really perturbed.
I'm sure it was a cost cutting measure as opposed to hiring an artist to bang out some quick pages, but it looks terrible.

If you use generative AI, we simply cannot be friends. I’m sorry, but it is a horrid, thieving thing that floods the channels and pushes real effort to sideline, steals from artists and authors to make crap, and eats through resources at the same time: burning a rainforest to make a cheap match.
