Here's a neat trick they teach in authoritarianism school: If you purge the people who measure the effects of your policies (BLS, MMWR), you can just claim everything's great, and nobody can prove how much damage you're doing.

UPDATE: In emailed statement to me / @reason.com, DHS alleges that WGN-TV producer Debbie Brockman "threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer."

“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers. As I'm moving from hoping to meet my funding goal into actually producing my 'Zine Storage Boxes I have been revising the design. This one is "A Love Letter to Self-Publishing", very similar to what I mocked up initially, but less messy and busy, and I think nicer www.kickstarter.com/projects/the...
