Tuesday Streetfilms will release a 10+ minute opus on biking in London. In central biz district there's more🚴‍♀️than 🚗🚗.

Here's a segment tease on a Bicycle Priority Crossing that links TWO Low Traffic Neighborhoods. Amazing! @willnorman.co.uk @openplans.org @talyaschwartz.bsky.social @transalt.org

'you can hear birds, because we don't have to put up with the sound of traffic so much.' There is a win for people without small kids too, who are not mentioned, but get to use the space for walking, cycling, coffee in the sun with a friend or neighbour hearing the birds, breathing less pollution.

How crazy is this? The Kia Oval is a large cricket stadium in London. How large? Try 27,500 seats! And now about half of the perimeter of space surrounding the stadium feature two schools streets at Henry Fawcett Primary School and St. Mark's C of E Primary School.

This is perfect for a city like Jersey City. If we could make our neighborhoods truly safe for pedestrians and cyclists, we wouldn't need to rely on cars so much. Imagine getting to school or to the PATH station or to the bus this comfortably!

Look how wonderful Low Traffic Neighborhoods can be!

This is the Van Gogh Walk in Lambeth, London. This street is decades old but built for people first yet still has access for last block travel & emergency vehicles! @openplans.org @nyc.streetsblog.org @thewaroncars.bsky.social @nycdot.bsky.social

The REV Saint-Denis is great too, but I think this protected bike intersection might be my new go-to recommendation for people visiting Montreal who want to see high cycling volumes in the North American context.

Exeter could have this around every school. Why not at least outside Ladysmith and St Michaels? And the Cathedral School? Nearly one year since focus groups held to find solutions following the LTN removal.

He will have plenty of time to search for parking spots when he never works an NFL game again!

What's a School Street you ask?

And then you ask, why aren't all transportation decision-makers choosing to build more streets for children?

I can't wait until I am officially retired (but still making films and things) so I can tell people like this to go fuck themselves.

Very exciting! The seminal 1980 documentary "The Social Life of Small Urban Spaces" by William H. "Holly" Whyte has been RESTORED and screening in NYC this week!

I wanted to honor his work and used his words in the companion book and produced this 11 years ago.
