A double whammy here. 1) No, it does not serve 'economic vested interests' to pursue mad economic policies and 2) no, I do not in fact serve the same interests as Nigel Farage, who is directly responsible for the election of MPs who think I should be deported.
It would be nice to see liberal centrist commentators more regularly & explicitly acknowledge the function of right wing discourse (eg every word out of Farages mouth) is to defend economic vested interests and rentier capitalism.
The cynical view might be that centrists also serve those interests.
