NY's Essential Plan was established under an optional ACA provision that allows states to create a Basic Health Program for low-income residents who don't qualify for Medicaid. The Essential Plan used ACA premium tax credits, to finance the program.

Prof Yaghi was born in Jordan to Palestinian refugee parents who could barely read and write. He immigrated to the US as a 15 year old.

Trump’s new law trying to close down health care providers who provide abortion care may take away life-saving primary care and treatment for common chronic diseases in rural areas around the country. Medicaid is a big part of the revenue for rural clinics and without federal funding they may close.
