I really love Spectered Isle and I’ve been so sad she’s never returned to that series. Otherwise it’s definitely the Magpie Lord and a Seditious Affair. Oh, and I always almost forget Think of England but there is one scene in that one which might be my favorite she’s ever written.

Right?! At least we had the sense to dance to music 20-30 years old at that point!! But honestly, these poor babies are nostalgic for a 20s they didn’t get to have, so I can’t be mad about it. And will join if I’m not feeling too tired.

TL;DR: the *actual* poverty line in the US for a family of four with two young children is about $140,000, and there isn't much improvement in quality of life between $40K and $100K.

I told her about Thursday 80s night dollar PBR pounders (that I couldn’t drink cuz that shit makes my stomach hurt, so I had $3 yeunglings instead) circa 2010 at the very place she wants to go in a couple weeks for 2010s dance party on a Friday. I said if they started early enough, I would go lol.

Then she asked me for financial advice and it was so sweet! The most valuable friendships I’ve made at work have been with women slightly to significantly younger than me who tell me I’m like the older sister they never had and, fuck it, I’ll take it. It’s been really amazing.

Had drinks with my former work mentee tonight (who I met as a teen at the library!), commiserating about feeling old together but I was being ironic bc she is 28 and more than ten years younger than me lol. But I still distinctly remember the beginning of that feeling and how weird it was.
