Live Updates: Explosions Are Reported in Venezuela’s Capital
It was not immediately clear what caused the blasts. The United States has been building pressure on Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela’s authoritarian president, for months.

The policy change worked as intended.

The goal was to starve black people. Saying anything else is disingenuous or a flat-out lie.
NEW: Without USAID funding to help buy food for refugees, the World Food Program rushed to prioritize families based on need, determining that only half the population would get food.

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.
After Trump Officials Cut Food Aid to Kenya, Children Starved to Death
“Brutal and traumatizing”: Interviews and a trove of internal documents show government officials and aid workers desperately tried to warn Trump advisers about impending disaster and death.

I question the “we can do better” part. It’s demonstrably false at this point.
The fate of the free world rests on someone who requires weekly MRI tests to monitor his advancing dementia.

We can do better.

Jewish colleagues I speak with regularly cite Jonathan Greenblatt as one of the most serious threats they face. They're convinced that he is committed to silencing or destroying any Jew who openly criticizes or challenges Benjamin Netanyahu and his war making. And they're correct.

It’s almost like taking a blowtorch to the entire federal workforce doesn’t go over well in Virginia.
Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

My bigger fear:

Both Republicans and establishment Democrats now see that they’re cut.

Now the knives are really gonna come out.
really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt

Trump is sending a very clear message: kill or attempt to kill his enemies and you will never see repercussions.
Breaking on MSNBC:

Two federal prosecutors have been placed on leave at the direction of the White House after filing a sentencing memo seeking 27 months in prison for a pardoned Jan. 6 rioter who brought illegal guns and ammunition to President Obama's house in 2023.

We’re going to get our revenge eventually.
A Naperville man was hauled away by federal immigration agents Thursday morning as his two sons watched, the older boy begging them not to hurt his father and tearfully asking for a chance to speak to him before they left.

When I was in the Navy, I was ordered to turn fire hoses on Greenpeace protestors while in the Med. This was after the Cole bombing, so some concern was justified.

But I shudder at how fun I thought it was, at 20, to basically play a carnival game with humans standing up for their beliefs.
Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
