There was something so unsettling about them referencing him by name in the error message. It made me want to just uninstall the app permanently

People who raise chickens for eggs, do your chickens produce eggs more beautiful than this?? If so, let's see. And what breed of chicken do you have? Asking for my future self.

My husband read it first and couldn't stop talking about it, so I decided to give it a try.

Minutes after finishing Don't Cry for Me, I looked up the author to see what his other works were & was excited to see that he had written a follow-up from Isaac's perspective. I can't wait to get my hands on this!

What are some of yall's most anticipated reads for 2025?

I like all those genres too, but I much prefer fiction. I read 2 historical fictions this year: Take My Hand & James. James is a Huckleberry Finn retelling from the perspective of Jim. I thought it was pretty neat. The only nonfiction I finished (& actually enjoyed) this year was The 1619 Project.

I don't normally buy physical copies of books that I haven't already read but I decided to take a chance. Highly Suspicious & Unfairly Cute was on the Lily Reads book club a while back & I've been wanting to check it out

If you've already read these, what do you rate them?

3. The Kiss Countdown
2. Don't Cry for Me
1. Wellness

Don't Cry for Me and Wellness deserve 6 stars. They've joined my favorite books of all time.

This year I learned that I enjoy books with an unlikable main character.

After DNFing Babel, I was hesitant to pick up another Kuang book, but I ended up giving Yellowface 4.25 stars. Any recs for books with a MC you love to hate?

The film adaptation of Carrie has always been one of my favorite movies. Then I read The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson this summer, and LOVED it! So I figured it was finally time to pick up the original.

We listen and we don't judge. #bookish edition.

I did not enjoy Parable of the Sower. I found Lauren insufferable & every mention of Earthseed irritated me. I won't say the fanfare is unearned but as a lover of dystopian fiction, this was my most disappointing read of the year.

Nuh-uh, not guilty. Don't judge me for my #2. I'm a millennial 😅
