like, I understand the scarcity of venues. but damn. all it took was DJs and some hookah to make people overlook that they straight up stole from the artists that made that place what it is?

the cultural capital of that building was the murals. they purchased the building anticipating being able to use those murals in the branding/marketing. realized it wasn’t that simple. signed contracts to compensate the artists and then spun the block to say “actually we ain’t paying. do sum’n ”

got selected to the Public Art Commission in Richmond VA. 2 yr term. working very hard to push the city to invest in public art projects that directly benefit the community & overall, i’d like to help build a more sustainable environment for creatives living here, especially urban contemporary art
Anybody have any cool projects they’re working on? New recipes you’ve perfected? Minor accomplishments for which you’d like to be congratulated?
I’m interested.

while i’m sitting here on a snack break, i’d like to remind my Richmond folk that the A Stand for Arts & Culture document is still live. we’ve reached 100 signatures and i’d like to see 1,000 more.
read it. sign it. share it. www.change.org/p/a-stand-fo...
