Gas tariffs will rise in France on July 1st.

The housing minister explictly says it is due to lower demand resulting in higher network costs per capita.

We at @regassistproj.bsky.social have been urging countries to plan managed transitions from gas networks.

In France, the debate is heating up on power prices, as the government recently decided that household rates would increase by 9-10% (depending on the rate scheme). A factor repeatedly mentioned in the discussions is how much does it cost to produce power in France?

🔌💡Gas price (Dutch TTF) perspective.

Prices continue downward trend: now at level of 5/2021.
Then a record high.

Regulators were really nervous about low reserves after winter 20-21. Russia had started witholding supplies, and Asian LNG demand increased.

Electrification is energy efficiency.

Here's an example: Clean electric transport significantly reduces primary energy demand compared to petrol and diesel vehicles.

Why? It does not waste most of primary energy.

Ineos Project One - new ethane cracker in port of Antwerp, BE. Climate neutral by 2036?

- Environmental permit requires climate neutrality in 10y.
- Interesting! (but ETS should drop GHG to 0 around then anyway).
- How? Ineos identified 3 routes: CCS, H2, electrification.

Ineos prefers H2.
