Encouraging to see rising focus on barriers to attractive public EV charging in 🇩🇪, particularly the widespread practice of discriminatory pricing despite 🇪🇺 #AFIR legislation.

Hopefully, this will lead to a healthy, transparent market where EV drivers find it easy and attractive to charge in public.

More on giant heat pumps:
As I wrote earlier, the nice thing about large heat pumps is that it's a bit like the Olympics: there are lots of medals to be won in different categories. Is this the largest heat pump in the world? In this class (input: river, output: steam), perhaps yes.
One of the world’s largest industrial heat pumps is coming to Boston.

A 35MW system will use energy from the Charles River and deliver steam to heat more than 70 million square feet of buildings across Boston and Cambridge — hospitals, schools, homes, and businesses alike.

Großwärmepumpen are heating up Germany: capacity is expected to increase 6x by 2030.

Rivers and sea are increasingly being used as a heat source. The cost of heat pumps appears to be proportional to their size.

These and other findings from a new study:

EV range is never enough for a large proportion of the population. Unless they gain hands-on experience, this mental barrier will not be broken down.

Reaching price parity in the smaller/more affordable car segment (in France, with government support):
Purchase price parity for a European compact electric car!

Citroën launches a 19990 € version of its C3 EV. With the French purchase bonus of up to 4242 €, this means they’ve now reached purchase price parity with the petrol version (running costs & TCO are already lower)
Citroën lance une C3 électrique à moins de 20 000 €
La C3 électrique avec une petite batterie est disponible à la commande. Si l'autonomie descend à 206 km, le prix est très agressif.

Purchase price parity was already achieved for higher segments in Germany:
Interestingly, a purchase subsidy of €3,000 does not yet have a sufficient effect on vehicles priced below €40,000. The more expensive the vehicle, the smaller the cost difference between petrol/diesel and EV.

A "savings" option could therefore be to use the higher amount with a price cap.

The best-selling car in Germany is still the Golf, followed by two Golfs for people with prostate, hip or other age-related problems.
Golf sold over 80K vehicles in Deutschland this year
why? because it's cheaper than ID.3 (in NL it's in reverse)

just out of curiosity 🇩🇪

Golf: € 29 395 (ID3 more expensive at €33K)
T-Roc: € 30 845 (what should I compare with?)
Tiguan: € 39 175 (ID4 more expensive at €40K)

In most other European markets, fossil fuel cars are subject to higher taxes, so this purchase price parity milestone has already been reached. Car brands are now offering discounts on EVs in Germany to overcome weak demand while awaiting new government subsidies for EV purchases.
