18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people:

Why would anyone, even white europeans who you would presume these motherfuckers don't want to harass, ever want to come here as a tourist ever again? The risk isn't worth it.
CBP is detaining german tourist for over 1 mo because they accused her of intending to tattoo for $$ while in US. In jailing her to deport, they held her in solitary for 9 days, also kept her from her return flight Feb 15. She's still jailed.

The young woman had planned to spend a month with a friend in Los Angeles and then fly home to Berlin. But she’s been in federal custody since late January.

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement.

The wholesale erasure of history in real time.
Books mentioning slavery, civil rights removed from shelves at Fort Campbell schools - ClarksvilleNow.com
At an elementary school at Fort Campbell, home of the 101st Airborne Division, librarians are hard at work scrubbing the shelves for books that contain references to slavery, the civil rights movement...

Excellent explanation of the delta smelt being used as a political talking point.
NEW VIDEO: Trump almost flooded California farmlands to get back at a tiny fish called the Delta Smelt.

But this wasn't a new whim. The Delta Smelt is actually one of our dumbest, longest modern culture wars.

So here's an explainer on how we somehow got... here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf03...

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

On this 1st day of #BlackHistoryMonth, let’s honor & remember all Black service members, from the Harlem Hellfighters of WWI, to the Tuskegee Airmen & the "6888th women" of WWII, & all those who fought and served before and after them.

When Congressman John Lewis was a child, he tried to get a library card. He was turned away & told “The Library is not for coloureds” 💔

He’s a civil rights icon, lover of books, recipient of the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.

“The Library IS for Everyone” 💚

Patriotic Federal workers, please try to keep your jobs. Take up a spot that might go to a MAGA. Follow WW2-era CIA advice and use your bureaucratic superpowers to sabotage evildoers. Be maliciously compliant.

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

I just realized how tense I have felt since I woke up.

So this is your reminder to relax your shoulders, unclench your jaw, and take some deep breaths.

Take care of yourself. Put your own mask on before assisting another passenger.

I have deleted the bird app and will slowly be transitioning away from the camera app and FB. For now I keep them because they are the only connection I have with some older family members but my interaction will mainly be the messenger feature.
