My brain recognized these cropped images instantly even though my set of books had art by another artist. Looooooved those books. They saturated my 4th grade. I couldn’t wait to get back to them.

In del Toro’s F, the monster is only sympathetic with no monstrousness as a result of his treatment, murdering no one and only ever acting violently in self-defense. The doctor apologizes and is forgiven. The monster moves on better adjusted. It’s not Shelley’s story, which is ok, but I’m not a fan.
