ICE in Chicago detained two people (that we know of) for filming them today, a cyclist and a neighborhood rapid responder. This in addition to tear gassing another neighborhood and brandishing weapons at rapid response—both things that have also already been going on for weeks.

Community advocates in Cicero tried to join the annual Houbyfest parade today with a banner that read “ICE Out of Cicero: Silencio es complicidad. Solo el pueblo salva el pueblo.” They were intercepted and moved off the parade route by Cicero Police, one of whom was armed with an assault rifle.

Illinois State Police were enraged by one small attempt at a protest march last night (which was marching *away* from the ICE facility, FTR) led by a known local activist who just does that: marches. Never saw any violence on the part of protesters.

Fam, this is a challenging moment. We (as reporters) are trying to balance urgency of news & amplification of resistance narratives with not assisting in putting people in prison. It's tough for everyone right now with how fast videos go viral. There's a lot we are not sharing.
Pro-tip: if you have video of you or others directly intervening to obstruct ICE or de-arrest someone, for god’s sake don’t post it on social media. Or at a minimum blur faces first. You’re just begging for federal charges.

Stop lying. Your state cops attacked protesters alongside ICE yesterday. I was there. I and others were violently attacked by ICE agents. Your state cops acted in concert with them during the attack.
State, county, and local law enforcement have been working together and coordinating to ensure public safety around the Broadview ICE facility, and to protect people’s ability to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights.

Chicagoans should expect a fed tactical team presence here that looks a *lot* like what we already experience from CPD: lots of investigatory stops, legal or not, probably some jump outs leading to car crashes (like half a dozen in DC so far?). It's not unfamiliar. But it will be amplified.

Maybe instead of trying to convince millions of lefties to vote for a candidate with bad policy positions maybe instead that one candidate could adopt better policy positions. Just a thought... Or you know we could just cry about it later
