you know when you’re trying to remember a song but all you have left is a vibe and the fact that it was obscure fifteen years ago

“And, Emily, I saw you last night by the river.
I dreamed you were skipping little stones across the surface of the water —
frowning at the angle where they were lost, and slipped under forever,
in a mud-cloud, mica-spangled, like the sky’d been breathing on a mirror.”

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

i have saved the account. now to think of something to do with it other than occasionally open it and marvel at all the people who mistakenly think it’s their email address

November 7, 2023 — Kids in Gaza host a press conference, in English, to beg the world for life.

“We come now to shout and invite you to protect us; we want to live, we want peace…we want to live as the other children live.”

At the time, Israel forces had killed over 4,200 kids like these.

A man who witnessed the Lincoln assassination lived until 1956 and could have theoretically listened to the first album by Harry Belafonte, who in turn lived long enough to hear "WAP"

who wants to see a very silly poppy photo that my brother sent me
it’s Poppy the cat. She has a particularly wide-eyed vacant/shocked expression. She is sitting in a weird pose that’s half human child trying to sit up, half a cat caught while trying to lick her nether regions

watched THE INLAND SEA this evening, the 1991 documentary. found the voiceover and its perspective and desire to talk about a particular idea of Japanese character dated the film more than anything else, but some beautiful landscapes and cityscapes.

Incredibly dangerous for a senior politician to suggest that there's some zero-sum game to be played between mourning the losses of Oct7 and protesting an ongoing genocide. And incredibly cynical given that the protests are directed at his own complicity

once listened to an episode of a bbc podcast where all the unedited audio was included at the end of the show, got to hear the host talk to his producer and call one of their guests “what’s-his-chops”
tambourine.bsky.social
listening to a podcast that’s put out an episode with an unedited ad read in the middle. like, multiple takes, host saying “nope”, lots of dead air, laughing at the lines she has to say. a modern horror story lol
