So I accidentally got inspired to make another video about AI. Specifically, this is a bit of a dive into how models fundamentally must increase bias, with a lot of references to other videos that are really good explorations of similar topics. Also highlights a couple books you should read.

A very rare manufacturing error: Paper cups have a layer of wax for waterproofing, and someone's hair got on this cup between the paper and wax.
Don't be icked out by things like this. It's sanitary, it's sealed behind the wax. Don't let small imperfections upset your day.

I was pretty sure Tylenol couldn't even be safely used for children younger than the age at which autism becomes apparent.
Apparently it can be administered that young, but only in a form almost no one is using. It's absurd on the surface. xD

To be clear, I regularly use a plugin that has similar permissions: Video Speed Controller. But that's because it has to have blanket access to be able to add speed controls to ANY video. And it only asks for the ONE permission for all website access, no the additional tabs and navigation invasions.

Tools that actually just control videos for specific platforms do not ask for permission to run everywhere or intercept data during navigation.

If someone changes their username, links to their posts break. And Bluesky doesn't even do a redirect when there is no profile under the old name, it just turns into a 404.
That's a really bad design decision.

All "protect kids" legislation is barely disguised censorship that in effect strips most free speech provisions. The internet is the modern day town square, and by placing limits on speech, it is de facto repealing free speech.

I look at this chart & ask what the numbers are representing. If it's net worth, we're in the "miserables". If it's property value, then we are middle class. If it's actual money, we're poor.
I don't think I'm middle class because I believe it means "comfortably able to handle an emergency".

TIL it is unsafe to shop at home improvement stores. I wish I'd known this earlier, but I also don't know what to do about it.

Apple has effectively closed bug reporting.
It is absolutely unsafe to use bug reports in machine learning training, because bug reports always contain sensitive information. With this decision, it is now imperative to not report bugs to Apple, which means things won't get fixed as quickly anymore.
