I did a quick estimate of how much time I'd have to add stopping to eat in-game. It's a whole 24 hours.

Add crafting boats time, mining, dodging enemies, etc.. oh gosh, it's so much time.

Kurt J Mac reached the far lands in Minecraft after 14 years.

I want to try to make it there in hardcore mode without in-game sleeping, using a mod to bring the far lands back in 1.21.9.

Sprinting + jumping allows travel at 7.1m/s. Non-stop, that would lead to the far lands in under 3 weeks.

I need to find a balance where I don't commit to every day, and allow myself to spend multiple hours at a time, without pushing TOO hard.

This also assumes I can not die. I am good at Minecraft, but not THAT good at it.

It might also be fun to open it to LAN and have family join temporarily.

If I dedicated an hour per day to it, it would take 16 months.

My biggest problem with committing to any goal or task is not failing because of tedium/disinterest or burning myself out because of hyper-focusing too fast too much all at once.

I am absolutely not able to make it a full-time job, nor would I want to torture myself like that. But I do want to try to accomplish it, and within a relatively reasonable time-frame.

I just got through making sure the mod works, so I know it's possible, if I can just dedicate the time and not die

I want to try this in a newer version because many other distance-related bugs have been fixed in Minecraft since the version that last had the far lands, and new things (like sprinting) have been added.

It would take 1500 in-game days. 3 months full-time job IRL.

When looking up info on video codecs, all the focus and obsession is on super high resolution video. It's easy to find an answer as to what compresses the best for large video.

But I want to make very small, long, low res videos. What codec works best there? The answer is non-obvious.

Also.. once again.. blaming users for poor design decisions - like an irreversible command that destroys a large amount of data without confirmation - is fucking stupid. Stop defending that and blaming people for minor mistakes.

Psychosis is also common! Stigmatizing it isn’t helpful.

We see it in folks who are manic, who’ve used a lot of stimulant drugs, who have a brain issue like Huntington’s, or who have an endocrine issue. (Among many other causes.)

It’s a thing that we can treat. It doesn’t define anyone!
