If you ever wondered how to photograph a gorilla skeleton without a studio …

And that's how you integrate digital elements into an exhibition. Part of the temporary "China's Dinosaur World" at the Shanghai Natural History Museum, China. Closing this November.

Nirvana fans of the MTV Unplugged in New York album should check out the @rcmlondon.bsky.social exhibition about the recording. The guitar, the jumper and rare memorabilia are on display until November 18 in London.

So the answer to the question ‘how many people does it take to hang a python skeleton’ is five.
African rock python skeleton articulated around a branch and temporarily suspended between coat racks. Which is the best use of coat racks ever. Emilia Kingham holding branch with python skeleton before mounting in newly refurbished case. Alice Holloway crunching the numbers in distance. Alice Holloway, Cyrus Shroff and Hannah Cornish ease python skeleton into case for positioning. She’s up! Python skeleton hanging in case at UCL’s Grant Museum of Zoology.

I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

One of the benefits of decanting thousands of specimens for casework and redisplay is that you have the opportunity to deep dive into their histories and records. Just connected the archival dots of this pink fairy armadillo and it is an original @uclgrantmuseum.bsky.social specimen from 1828!

Wondering why @uclgrantmuseum.bsky.social is closed this week? Case refurbishments and new displays on the way!

An exhibition @uclgrantmuseum.bsky.social swats away some of our negative perceptions of wasps. Will Wiles considers the success of its attempt to ‘reposition the beer-garden menace as an evolutionary marvel’.
If we liked wasps more, we could learn from them
Wasps have a terrible image problem but, after seeing an exhibition that highlights their design abilities, Will Wiles thinks we could learn from them

As someone who's putting considerable effort into changing perceptions of wasps from "kill" to "appreciate", I often feel at odds in the company of pest controllers.

But Steve Light is a pest-controller who I hope represents a change. Read his blog.

Wasp Talk - shire-pest-solutions.co.uk
I deal with wasps almost every day. So attending a wasp talk dedicated to saving wasps felt strange but hearing Professor Seirian Sumner.
