Like I'm in a place where I have other ways to express myself, where I couldn't in my fanfic heyday. Now there are other stories that I crave to write but I don't feel like I have the ability for it.

Agreed! I think (for me RN) there's an additional element of feeling able to embrace it and accept it, where before I think the insecurity would have been completely overwhelming.
