I feel like if it hasn't been sold as a CoD game, the campaign would have gotten a lot more attention from people, which is the best part of the game.

A lot of folks treated it like the annual delivery vehicle for CoD's multiplayer, rather than a sci-fi rink with an all star cast

Cynics also say that independents can't win, but the "save Kiddiminster Hospital" candidate was in office from 2001 to 2010. Even if not, a strong enough protest vote attracts attention from the party it would split votes from.

The cynic would say so. If one needs proactive things to do, one can write letters to MPs, vote for one of the non blighty-and-paid-for parties, or stand for election oneself. I'm going to be an independent on a platform of "tax the rich harder" come next election.

Though it also depends on whom they're trying to appease - banks have been trying to get tech companies to shoulder the cost of fraud, as this would have done.
